Frequently Asked Questions

Why Join the Volcano Veggies CSA?

Volcano Veggies CSA members are directly responsible for providing us with capital that we need to get started. YOU help us purchase the space & materials to build the aquaponics system, the seeds we plant, the feed we give to our fish, and equipment needed for the year’s harvest. In return, we provide you with the nourishment that you need for your family. You also have the peace of mind that we live and work in your community and are directly accountable to you.

By becoming a member, you take true ownership of the food you consume, and share in both in the bounty and risks inherent in farming. This helps keep local agriculture alive, protects the environment and allows us to provide the Central Oregon community with healthy, sustainably-grown food.

How Soon Will Produce Be Ready?

When you sign up for our CSA program, we will use your investment to expand our aquaponic system to grow vegetables, fruit & fish just for you! It takes time for your produce to grow, so your 1st pickup date will be scheduled about 3-4 months after your initial investment. Your membership will last for 12 months from your first share pickup (with the option to renew!).

How Often Do You Harvest?

Once a week.

When are pickup days & times?

Pickup is Monday-Wednesday at the Central Oregon Locavore store, during their business hours.

What if I can’t afford to join the CSA?

If you live at or below 185% of the federal poverty income limit, then you may qualify for subsidized shares through the Central Oregon Food Policy Council. This program will pay up to $12/share!!!
